Yoga Classes
My Approach:
Since each person has a unique body structure and physical make-up, the yoga sessions are tailored keeping these in mind, so as to ensure physical well being; and in the bargain, gently lead you to connect with your body. This is the traditional way to teach yoga since one shoe size doesn't fit all. Great care must be taken when teaching group classes. I ensure that contraindications related to each pose is shared during the group sessions, so as to ensure a safe and enjoyable practice for everyone.
🎶 Music during my sessions 🎶
I am a traditional Yoga/Meditation teacher, and a Vipassana student. This basically means I usually do not play music for any of my yoga or meditation classes. The idea of meditation and yoga is to connect to oneself by eliminating distraction. I love music and have played music whilst doing my own yoga practice and find that it doesn't always allow me to observe and let go of my thoughts. I will admit that I do have fun. However, listening to music, during my practice, doesn't allow me to go deeper into the stillness and silence that meditation and yoga is about.
🎶 Secondly what resonates with me, in terms of music might not resonate with you and therefore music would be a further hindrance to the practice. You are welcome to play music during your practice. I hope you can appreciate this ancient wisdom (not new age mumbo jumbo) and I hope you can understand what I am trying to facilitate for my fellow practitioners.
with kindness 🙏
Important Note:
Respect your body's limitations and inner wisdom, if something feels wrong or dangerous, please do not do it. Please consult your healthcare practitioner before starting yoga, pranayam (breath work) or any other exercise program.

Private yoga (one-on-one - if you want to set up yoga with your own group of friends - please click here for the group rate)
The traditional way to practice yoga in the old days was on a one-on-one session with the teacher. The reason for this was that by respecting that each body was different, it was imperative to tailor the yoga sequence to suit the individuals requirement. session rates here

Mindful Movement
Priyanka merges mindfulness, and movement, into an uplifting yoga practice. This is an authentic yoga practice straight from India, blended with mindfulness. The difference between jogging on a treadmill and being oblivious to anything but some great music, to being very aware of the inner workings of the body, sensation, emotions, feelings and thoughts, without getting attached, or judging one's SELF.

Stories behind the Yoga Poses (mythologies)
Most yoga poses are linked to fantastic mythological stories and creatures that stem from a pantheon of stories that come out of India. These are not just stories for they have intense contemplative reflections that can really bring our practice off the mat and into our daily life. Disclaimer - some of these stories might be gory - but they are fun and I grew up with them and would like to share them with you.

Restorative Yoga (yin yoga/yoga nidra)
We all agree that there's way too much stress and anxiety in today's world, and the best way to manage it is to 'chill out'. Please join me in a yoga session specifically tailored to allow yourself to relax, while you stretch the stress out of your body, observe your thoughts, without interacting with them with the help of your breath. The use of props is minimalistic as I like to encourage a flow and find them to be too disturbing. I also share guided meditations during the sessions so its a 2 in 1 win-win as you get to stretch, relax, but not fall asleep and cultivate a meditation practice.

Vinyasa (flow) yoga
There are days when we have so much energy that a hardcore vinyasa session is the best way to mindfully channel and expel the energy. The session starts with a sun salutation which is similar to a cardio workout. The idea is that even though we synchronize the breath with movements – and might sweat – we don’t want to be breathless. Post a few rounds, since the body is warmed up we can stretch into static poses and focus on connecting to the breath. We use downward facing dog to transition into poses, holding them for a few breaths/seconds. This is offered to practitioners who want to increase stamina, strength and get a yoga cardio workout and sweat going. You can opt for 30/60/90 minute sessions depending on your fitness level.

"What if our religion was each other.
If our practice was our life.
If prayer, our words.
What if the temple was the Earth.
If forests were our church.
If holy water —the rivers, lakes, and oceans.
What if meditation was our relationships.
If the teacher was life.
If wisdom was self-knowledge.
If love was the center of our being.”
~ Ganga White"
