Are you suffering from multiple sclerosis? Strike these yoga poses
"Yoga poses help improve your strength, balance, and posture. Moreover, yoga improves your breathing capacity which ensures better blood circulation through the body. This will also help in increasing the functional efficiency of a person suffering from multiple sclerosis,” says Delhi-based yoga instructor Priyanka Devi Gupta. Here are the yoga poses you can practise if you are suffering from multiple sclerosis."

Interview with ThePrint published online about the recent yoga related controversy...
...Speaking to ThePrint, yoga instructor Priyanka Gupta said cardiac coherence and pranayam “are absolutely the same thing”.
“I think the West gave it a name that is a little more digestible than pranayam,” she added. “This seems to be semantics, as the western culture is more comfortable with scientific terminology, whereas the word pranayam or yoga tends to have mystical associations that make the western world uncomfortable.”
...“Beer yoga, for example, is cultural appropriation,” Gupta added, referring to a form of yoga where practitioners are encouraged to drink beer while performing the asanas.“The moment we disrespect yoga and add elements that take away from its essence, such as the stillness and the spiritual aspect of ahimsa etc which are part of the eight limbs, then we are in danger of appropriating it.”

."In India, there are ample classes to choose from which teach the different forms of yoga, such as Hatha yoga, Ashtanga yoga and Iyengar yoga. Lessons can be conducted in studios, homes and ashrams. I eventually chose to get private Hatha yoga lessons (yes, you can!) because as a beginner I felt I needed personalized attention to get the basic poses right. My yoga guru Priyanka, tailor-made the poses (asanas) for me to fit my flexibility level (none) and ailments (many) to generate the most benefit from the asanas in the comfort of my own home and sweat pants. Hence I saluted the sun twice a week and learned how to let my stress leave with my breath in what I call the screwit-asan. Priyanka, the model for yogic patience, tolerated my creative terms and my downward dogged insistence on holding the savasan (corpse position) for far longer than needed. I called it restful meditation; she called it out as napping. Nothing gets past the seeker of love and light."
